Style Sensei ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Style Sensei mobile application and website at stylesensei.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect information you provide directly, such as your email address and password. If you sign in with Google or another third-party provider, we receive basic profile information from that provider (such as your name and email address) as permitted by your account settings.

Photos and Camera Data

Style Sensei requests access to your device camera and photo library so you can upload photos for style analysis, virtual try-on, and personalized recommendations. We collect the images you choose to upload or capture within the app. We do not access your photo library without your explicit action.

Style and Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the app, including style preferences, quiz responses, outfit history, feature usage, and interactions with AI-generated content. We may also collect device information (such as device type, operating system, and app version) and general usage analytics.

Payment and Subscription Data

If you purchase a subscription or in-app purchase, payment processing is handled by Apple (App Store), Stripe, and/or RevenueCat. We receive transaction identifiers, subscription status, and purchase history — not your full credit card number.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain Style Sensei's core features
  • Process your photos using AI to generate style analysis, virtual try-on results, and personalized recommendations
  • Create and manage your user account and authenticate your identity
  • Process subscriptions and in-app purchases and manage your entitlements
  • Improve our AI models, features, and user experience
  • Send service-related communications (such as account or subscription updates)
  • Monitor for fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. AI Processing of Your Photos

Style Sensei uses artificial intelligence, including Google's Gemini models, to analyze photos you submit. This processing may include detecting body shape and pose, generating virtual try-on visualizations, analyzing style attributes, and producing personalized outfit recommendations.

Photos submitted for AI processing are transmitted to our servers and to third-party AI service providers for analysis. We use these results to deliver features within the app. We do not sell your photos to third parties. We do not use your photos to train public AI models without your consent.

4. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the app, including cloud hosting (Firebase/Google Cloud), AI processing (Google Gemini), payment processors (Apple, Stripe, RevenueCat), analytics (Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics), and error monitoring (Sentry)
  • Legal authorities when required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you where required by law

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Style Sensei offers subscription plans and in-app purchases processed through the Apple App Store. Apple handles payment card information according to its own privacy policy. We and our payment partners (Stripe and RevenueCat) receive information needed to verify your subscription status and provide access to premium features.

You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID account settings. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple according to its policies.

6. Data Storage and Security

We store your data using industry-standard cloud infrastructure, including Firebase Authentication and Firebase Cloud Storage. Photos and account data are encrypted in transit using TLS. We implement access controls and security measures designed to protect your information.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and style data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Photos you upload are retained to support features such as your style vault and virtual try-on history until you delete them or close your account.

If you cancel a subscription, your account data remains accessible for up to 90 days to allow reactivation. After that period, or upon your deletion request, we delete or anonymize your personal data in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Withdraw consent for certain processing activities
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

You can delete photos and account data within the app where those features are available, or contact us at support@stylesensei.com to exercise your rights.

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). EU and UK residents may have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

9. Children's Privacy

Style Sensei is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection consistent with applicable law.

11. Third-Party Links

Our app and website may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the effective date above. Your continued use of Style Sensei after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
